Project overview

Schutzhaus Tschafon is located in the Dolomites in South Tyrol and offers overnight stays and experiences close to nature. While the corporate design and product packaging had already been established, my responsibility was to translate the brand into a digital presence. The goal was to design and develop a website that not only reflects the authentic character of the hut but also provides visitors with a seamless and intuitive online booking experience.

Initial requirements:

  • Designing a one-pager website that presents key information in a simple, clear structure.

  • Creating an intuitive booking system integrated directly into the site.

  • Ensuring responsive layouts optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop.

  • Communicating the rustic yet welcoming spirit of Schutzhaus Tschafon in a digital format.

Design elements:

  • A visually minimal and inviting layout that emphasizes large imagery and authentic illustrations.

  • Clear sections for rooms, dining, activities, and booking — all easily accessible through smooth scrolling navigation.

  • Integration of photography and natural motifs to connect the digital presence with the hut’s alpine surroundings.

  • Responsive design ensuring a consistent experience across all devices.

Process highlights:

  • Designed the full website structure and page layouts as a modern one-pager.

  • Developed the site in Webflow, ensuring fast implementation and full control over responsive behavior.

  • Integrated a booking system to streamline the reservation process for visitors.

  • Delivered a polished and scalable solution that can be easily updated by the client.

Lessons learned:

This project highlighted the importance of:

  • Simplicity in structure: For tourism-related websites, reducing complexity helps visitors quickly find the information they need.

  • Authenticity in visuals: Translating the charm of a physical place into digital form requires careful use of imagery, layout, and design tone.

  • Efficiency with Webflow: Low-code platforms like Webflow enable rapid iteration and handover while maintaining design precision.

My role:

For Schutzhaus Tschafon, I was fully responsible for the web design and Webflow development. I designed the entire website layout, implemented it in Webflow, and integrated the booking system. My work ensured that the brand’s values and hospitality are reflected in an accessible, functional, and visually engaging online presence.
