Project Objective:
As part of my leadership for Toolbox, I conceptualized and led the development of the Creation Assistant — a modernized, AI-powered stepper interface that guides users through the process of creating Toolbox pages for innosabi’s Idea, Community, and Partner products. The goal was to simplify page creation for admins, area managers, and content managers by combining a human-centered, natural language interface with intelligent automation. The result is a multi-step vertical scroll modal that reduces complexity and accelerates content creation without sacrificing control or quality.
Initial Requirements:
The Creation Assistant was designed with clear requirements in mind:
Enable users to generate pages using natural language prompts, transforming plain text input into structured page content.
Integrate AI-powered title, description, and meta-tag suggestions — acting like a built-in SEO expert to improve content discoverability.
Provide full AI-assisted image sourcing (e.g., Unsplash API integration) while allowing manual uploads and edits.
Ensure strict access and role management, with visibility settings fully aligned with existing multi-level permission structures in the Toolbox ecosystem.
Design Elements:
New modular UI components designed for a clean, intuitive multi-step experience.
Low- to high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes covering every part of the guided flow — from prompt entry to final review.
Conversational AI tone that supports clear, purposeful interactions.
Built-in flexibility for admins to select preferred AI providers while ensuring data privacy and compliance.
Process Highlights:
Conducted in-depth research on best practices in website builder content creation patterns and AI-assisted UX.
Gathered customer insights to define the MVP scope, balancing automation with human oversight.
Led technical feasibility workshops with development teams to map integration points, dependencies, and limitations.
Ran multiple user tests on evolving prototype versions to refine interaction flows, prompt structure, and usability.
Developed expertise in prompt engineering and collaborated with Questel’s internal AI specialists to ensure the AI behaves like a smart SEO assistant — from crafting compelling titles to generating relevant meta-tags.
Lessons Learned:
Building the Creation Assistant surfaced key insights that strengthened the entire Toolbox experience:
Designing for trust: Users value automation, but only when they feel fully in control — the assistant balances smart suggestions with clear options for manual edits at every step.
Human-centered AI needs real guardrails: Role-based permissions and visibility settings remain critical, even in an AI-driven workflow.
Prototype and test relentlessly: Finding the right balance between a stepper, wizard, or chatbot interface required testing different versions — resulting in the vertical scroll modal that proved most intuitive for our users.
Today, the Creation Assistant is one of the most praised and best-performing features on our platform, dramatically improving how quickly and confidently pages get published.
My Role:
As the lead for both design and product management, I shaped the Creation Assistant from concept to rollout. I defined the vision, drove the research, crafted wireframes, built and tested prototypes, and aligned every detail with developers, customer success, sales, and real customers. My early investment in prompt engineering and close collaboration with AI specialists ensured the assistant delivers real value — blending smart automation with human-centered design principles.
